That time of year. About everyday when I check the incubator or snake room something is either laying or hatching. Been so busy I have been somewhat out of the loop. Found two “surprise” clutches last night. One from a Leucistic TX rat and another from a normal female ball to a Mojave male.
Ball clutches seem to be all over the map this year. Was talking to Stu about it and he has had the same thing. Normal I have them all clustered together in a 2 month period and most are hatched by Daytona. This year I am still waiting on one or two to lay and also have hatching’s already out. Strange critters. Hard to predict what they will do sometimes. About when you have it down to a science.
I have certainly hit the odds on both morphs and sex ratios this year. 4 out of 5 spiders, 2.3 het albinos -though the poss het mother didn’t prove out
Can’t beat it! Looks like I have a shot at super Mojo’s this year as well as some bee’s. See if the luck holds up. At this rate I will be hatching them in November! Time for her to hit the road along with some more normals this year. Gonna trim back the BP’s quite a bit after this coming season to make room for some more colubrids. Time for something new again.
